Susan and Chris are from Chicago and made the wise decision to leave the 30 degree weather and come to the Valley of the Sun for their destination wedding.  With the sun setting to the west of Camelback Mountain, The Sanctuary with it’s private and exclusive feel made it the quintessential venue for this intimate ceremony and reception. 26 of Susan and Chris’s family and close friends all flew in just to see these two lovebirds tie the knot and make it “official”.  It was easy to see that these two belonged together, especially when Chris said in his interview, “Who knew that a text message from a co-worker would end up like this?”  The day was romantic, heart warming and so meaningful. My favorite detail had to be their cake topper. Be sure and keep a look out for it when you watch their Wedding Movie Trailer. Susan and Chris, thank you for allowing Serendipity to be a part of documenting your special day.

A spring wedding at The Ritz Carlton with a rooftop ceremony was Victoria and Tracy’s setting for their dream wedding and it was nothing short of spectacular. There was no detail undone… From the cake with cascading flowers to the chandeliers glistening in the moonlight of their evening ceremony to their fabulous tablescapes adorned with chargers, chavarri chairs and floral centerpieces. The details were to die for. The day was an incredible celebration of a love. Both Victoria and Tracy were cool as cucumbers all day long and both laughing and smiling throughout this special day. Then once the ceremony ended Victoria put her dancing heels on and the party began. And man can this crowd party. The dancing went on for hours. It was a blast!! Congratulations to Victoria and Tracy. Thank you for allowing Serendipity Videography to be a part of your wedding day.

Go Team Serendipity!

Every year I like to get photos done of the Serendipity Videography “peeps”. With each shoot I like to have a theme that we build the shoot around. 2 years ago we did sexy, mysterious and badass with Sergio Photographer

and last spring we did fun on the farm with Melissa Jill Photography.

So while we were sitting in the office racking our brains with what to do for this years theme it hit me… You ever hear the saying “It takes a village…” well with Serendipity that saying couldn’t be more true except that it takes a “team”. Every part of our business model is built around the word “team”. Jeff and I are a husband and wife “team” who own/operate the business, we have “teams” of Videographers, we have a “team” of Editors” and a “team” of Video Coordinators. Our couples have an amazing experience because we have a “team” of people working to make sure that happens. So we thought let’s make the theme of our shoot “Go Team”. So we headed to the nearest high school and showed our Serendipity spirit! For those that know me I am sure that it comes as no surprise that I was a high school cheerleader. SPIRIT FINGERS!!! So I felt right at home back up on those bleachers with pom poms in hand. All I was missing was my insanely short cheer skirt and spirit stick. Thank you to Ben Quillinan of BQ Photography for taking our concept and running with it! Oh and also putting up with our crazy antics. The shoot was funny because we were at Mesquite High School in Gilbert and their colors are blue and gray and we show up with red, black and white signs and pom poms and are cheering and shouting in the stands with no game to cheer for. All the while the track team is running laps around the field. The students must have thought we were a bunch of crazy people or a flash mob. Either way it was a jolly good time. Here are some our favorite shots… Go Team Serendipity!!

A Note From An Editor

Hello brides to be, I am Kristen Carpenter. I am an Editor here at Serendipity Videography. I am from glorious Gilbert Arizona and I attend Arizona State University.

I am going to guide you in what choices you can make that will help your wedding film be spectacular as well as what you can do so that your personality as a couple shows in your wedding film.

First off, I highly recommend that you have your Videographer shoot your photo session. I know that may sound a bit odd because that is your time with your Photographer…. You are probably wondering why that needs to be shot by the Videographer at all but the photo session ends up being some of the most romantic footage of the entire film. You guys are smiling at each other, sneaking little kisses and it is a moment of true love that is conveyed in your wedding film. The photo session makes your film more personal and it gives your wedding film more character. If you don’t have your photo session shot what usually is put in place of that is detail shots of your ceremony site or reception site. While those are important and should be included in the overall film the moments with your new hubby are going to matter more to you in the years to come.

Second, your music selections make a world of a difference on the flow of your Highlight Film. When you’re choosing music for your Highlight Film, make sure that these tunes are going to stand the test of time. You have to think long and hard about selections like “Like A G6″ while a fun and novelty song right now will you think it is just as fun 10 years from now. If you choose a fast, upbeat song the video will be fun, have more fast editing and the clips will move along with the music. If you choose a slow, steady pace song the video with be more relaxing and will move along with the pace of the song. If you need ideas on song selections, you can check out Serendipity’s blog and browse through the different highlight films and see which one fits your style as a couple.

This video demonstrates perfectly how a slower song choice looks on a highlight film

Here’s an excellent example of an upbeat and fast flowing Movie Trailer.

Lastly, the more Reception footage the better. What exactly is Reception footage? Reception footage is the video we shoot during the reception. So basically, you and your guests having a good time. When you look back in 10 years and you watch your highlight film you probably would want to see what went on at your Reception. I would strongly recommend that Serendipity is there long enough to shoot your first dances, cake cutting, bouquet toss, garter toss, and your toasts. Those are all the main highlights of your Reception and they will be very important to you after your big day.
