Every once in a while one of our “friendors”  (vendors who are friends, a term coined by Victoria Canada) gets married and it is simply joyous. Having done so many weddings together, spending many late nights together, dealing with brides melting down and a slew of various other crisis’s that happen in wedding world you feel a sense of comradery and connection with those that you work with weekend after weekend. So when it was time for Jessica from the Royal Palms to say “I Do” there was no shortage of “friendors” wanting to be a part of making her wedding to Zach super special. Serendipity Videography not only had the honor but the pleasure of documenting Jessica and Zach’s love. It’s really fun seeing the vision of a Catering Managers wedding because it is often times the exact opposite of what every day brides want. She planned a wedding that was a complete contrast to what she see’s weekend after weekend in her day job at the Royal Palms. They had their wedding at the uber chic and contemporary Clayton On The Park. No sprawling gardens or secret pathways here but clean lines and a contemporary design. While most brides want to do a formal wedding with a sit down dinner and a formal affair. Not Jessica and Zach… They wanted a PAR-TAYYY. She wanted her guests to mix and to mingle and to just have a great time. She didn’t want the formal sit down dinner, she wanted comfort food stations. She didn’t want the big band, she wanted gambling for her entertainment. The vision was to have her entire reception to be a super fun and entertaining Cocktail Hour and it was spectacular.  Jessica was so chill that she even let her bridesmaids wear whatever they wanted and in whatever color they wanted…. GASP….. And guess what the world did not collapse and it looked beautiful. Congratulations to Jessica and Zach. It was a true pleasure to see one of our own tie the knot.

Rachel and Tanner wed this past weekend at the recently re-opened Copperwynd Resort. A wedding overlooking the city with the reception outdoors and under the stars. It doesn’t get more romantic than that until you hear this adorable couples story. They met on the first day of medical school. These two bookworms started out as friends but the late night study groups turned “like” into “love” and before you knew it wedding bells were ringing. A couple of the “deets”, short for details, that I loved were Rachel’s dress… Umm stunning…. unique, gorgeous and unlike anything I have ever seen and their ceremony decor. For some reason I just love things hanging from the trees. I don’t know if it is the way the breeze catches them or what but I find it romantic and whimsical. The wedding was beautiful and the couple was just perfect. Here is a sneak peek of their wedding day.

Hello to all of my friends!  Sarah here with some eye candy for you.  I’m pretty sure that some of you might have wondered where I was last Wednesday night. Because I don’t like to leave my fans and friends hanging, I’ll tell you; Last Wednesday night Taryn and I attended the Phoenix Bride and Groom Magazine networking event. It was my first big event since being back and let me tell you, they definitely pulled out all the stops!

For those of you not in the wedding biz, networking events are a time for planners, photographers, caterers, venue coordinators, florists and everyone associated in any way with weddings to get together and meet up. Vendors pitch in to showcase their talents so that other vendors recommend their services to brides. I was especially happy that all of the caterers attending were willing to show us their talents. Serendipity’s contribution to the event was a timelapse shot over 2 days of the set-up.

The theme for the event was “Moulin Rouge,” so as soon as you stepped into the event we were greeted by girls in corsets, sparkles and lots of feathers.  The Venue looked like a snapshot taken of Paris in the late 1800s.  We came into the main room and I looked up and was shocked to see a girl on a swing about 15 feet off the ground!  Entertainers took breaks and primped on the balcony with the infamous ‘red light’ on.  There were can-can dancers, crooners, and entertainment all evening.  My Tarot card reader told me to wait to make any big commitments in my personal life for 3-6 months, and that I will be able to balance my relationships with my career.  Taryn and I waited to get our lip readings done, but by the end of the night we still had about 5 people in line before us, and she wanted to see her kids and I wanted to Skype with my boyfriend (who is still up in Idaho) so we left before our turn came around.

Although I’m new to these things and didn’t have any part in planning the event, I feel like everything went off without a hitch – the food was amazing, the music wasn’t so loud that we couldn’t still talk and mingle.  I met great planners, photographers and vendors, and reconnected with a few who I’d met earlier this year.  Thank you so much to everyone who was involved, and especially to Phoenix Bride and Groom for hosting the event!

Brides and grooms are always looking for unique and fun ways to personalize their events and make them stand out from the sea of weddings they attend. A Save the Date Film is one of the newest and hottest trends in wedding cinematography right now. Save The Date Films have been around for a few years but with the integration of DSLR cameras they have become more popular because the films look and play like a movie. Leor and Sam were looking for something that would wow their guests and inform them about their wedding this next spring. What better way to do that then a Save The Date Film!! We teamed up with their Photographer Kimberly Jarman on their engagement shoot and killed two birds with one stone. They got rockin’ photos out of their shoot and we shot their Save The Date Film. Leor and Sam met at ASU so they thought that would so befitting to their history as a couple so that is where we shot. This couple was up for anything. They danced in fountains and we even found an empty classroom to shoot in. They cuddled, they flirted, they kissed… It was not hard to make a fabulous film out of this couples shoot. Save The Date for Leor and Sam! Coming Spring 2012!!

More and more these days couples are incorporating a “Love Story” as part of their wedding cinematography. A “Love Story” is as simple as it sounds… It is a story of a couples love. It tells the story of how they met, when they knew that he/she was “the one” and ultimately how he proposed. The Serendipity style of doing a Love Story is to interview the bride and groom separately then together. Then we weave together the various interviews as a story to show the timeline of events that ultimately led them down the aisle. It’s amazing the emotion and the feelings that come out in these pieces. It’s also so funny to hear her side of the story then his side of the story of how they met. Guys and girls perceptions are always so different. It’s almost as if they met two totally different people the day when their paths crossed for the first time.

Meet Emily and Dustin. They are getting married this Fall down in Tucson and their journey down the aisle has been 10 years in the making. They wanted their Love Story to depict the casual and fun side of their relationship yet show that they are ready for this next step and what they think a life together will mean. These two are the coolest, most chill people to hang with. Spending an afternoon with them on the beach in Santa Monica I can see what makes this couple tick and why they are so in love. We can’t wait to document their wedding day this Fall.
