Last weekend Jeff and I got the email that every newlywed Serendipity couple looks forward to:

“Jeff and Sarah, Your Wedding Highlight Film is finished!!!”

Now I know what you’re thinking; “But Sarah, you’re a Serendipity editor! Are you saying that you didn’t edit your own Film?” No my friends, I did not.

You see, when I edit a project it is forever my project. Every time I watch it I see something more I could have done differently, or something that could be altered. I learned my lesson with our Love Story – I edited it, and now I don’t really ever want to watch it.

However, the beauty of Serendipity is that it’s not a one-man show.

Another great blessing is that we get to know our couples before and as we edit a Film. Sean, my lovely editor, obviously has known me for about two years now as we’ve worked together editing in the same studio, as well as shooting weddings together. However, there’s much in a relationship that you can’t explain to others – the funny things that come up or the inside jokes that you just can’t explain to someone else. However, such is his talent and skill that somehow Sean was able to put in all of our inside jokes and our favorite memories of the day. Windmill as our child’s name, me kissing his ring after our first look – these silly things and more are what made the day ours.

I was in tears at the end of our film, and I think Jeff was a little misty-eyed as well. The imagery, the lighting, the story, the family – Jeff was worried about his interview (like most people, he HATES seeing and hearing himself on camera), but we were both so surprised at how good we sounded, and how the interviews kept things moving along.

I know I’m a bit biased in my opinion that EVERYONE should have a wedding Film, but after getting this back, I am a straight-up advocate for it. Jeff didn’t care one way or the other about getting a Film, but after watching ours he was making a mental checklist of people he knew that were getting married that he was going to try and convince to get one.

Thank you Serendipity, for everything!! It could not have been more perfect! I hope you all enjoy it as much as we do!

If you haven’t noticed an underlying theme in some of my Wednesday Wedding Film Tips let me share that with you. The Photographer and Cinematographer relationship on your wedding day is a REALLY important one and can significantly impact the outcome of both your Photos and Wedding Film. So today’s tip is once again having to do with this interaction between the two…. Here goes…. Schedule time in your timeline for your Cinematographer to have time with you as a couple to get some footage. The photo shoot is always the Photographers time and we totally get that. We normally tag along and shoot alongside of them. We allow them to dictate that time because that is “their” time with the couple. We are totally cool with that and don’t interrupt during that time. We allow them to do their deal. Doesn’t it make sense though that if the Photographer gets time with you to get the shots that they need that the Cinematographer should get some time as well to get the shots we need? We don’t need nearly as much time, roughly about 15 minutes. Of course the Photographer is more than welcome to shoot alongside of us and partake. This time gives us the chance to get what we need for your wedding film without encroaching on the time the Photographer needs. The Photographer might appreciate this time as well to change our batteries, switch lenses or get a drink of water. So if the Photographer needs an hour great, give it then when they are done allow us fifteen minutes and that way everyone gets what they need and you get fabulous memories.

I met with Brittany over a year ago and fell in love with her the instant that we met. I was soooooo happy that she hired Serendipity because she was one of those brides I just knew I had to work with. As the months went on Brittany would send me emails asking for thoughts, opinions and suggestions which I love because I love being a resource to my brides. We are now text friends and I get little texts from her like the text when she told me she was pregnant!!!! I was overjoyed for her and Erik!!! Not only were they getting married but now they were going to have a bundle of joy. So check this idea out….. They decided to unveil the sex of the baby in their cake cutting. They had their doctor call the cake maker and tell them whether it was a boy or a girl and the cake maker made the cake accordingly. Is that not soooooo adorable. Watch Brittany and Erik’s Wedding Movie Trailer and find out if their little bundle of joy is a baby boy or a baby girl.

Rachel and Tanner are an “it” couple. I call them an “it” couple not in the Hollywood sense of the word even though they are beautiful and fabulous. I call them an “it” couple because they literally have everything it takes to have an amazing marriage. They have passion, love, adoration and genuine respect for one another. When they talk about one another their eyes light up and it is as if they are the only two people in the world. I absolutely love what love does to people and how being in love shows on peoples faces… Allow me to introduce you to Rachel and Tanner and their wedding film.
